For portable toilets installed in your area, please see locations in the previous message alert.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, as we diligently work to restore the District’s facilities.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Update

Updated: September 1, 2017 at 2:45pm

To the Residents of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 102:

We regret to inform you that the District is unable to provide sanitary sewer service at this time because of the calamitous effect on the District’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) caused by the unprecedented rainfall event from Tropical Storm Harvey.

The WWTP is flooded and the lift pumps are inoperable.  The District’s Operator at this time is unable to pump down the system until the flood waters recede, due to safety hazards relating to water and power.

Any sewage or wastewater discharged from customers will flood the sanitary sewer system and possibly cause the risk of sanitary sewer back-ups.

  • What does that mean for customers?  Please don’t flush, shower, bathe, wash clothes or dishes, or use any water that goes down your home drains.  If you do any of these activities, you run the risk of having sewage backup in your house.

There may be facilities near the District (shelters, schools, churches, restaurants or service stations) that are open and have restroom facilities.
